Switzerland (Trip to Switzerland solo) 22- November 2018
Switzerland Day 0 - 21st November 2018

Finally, the day has arrived for my year-end trip! What began as a 2-person trip turned into another solo trip as my friend backed out after all the research is done. Reason unknown. Just... stopped replying my messages altogether. So when Singles Day came, I knew that's probably the last day to get a decent price (by then like all prices have shot up up and away!) so I made a decision solo pon solo lah, ada hikmahnya insyaAllah. Now that my travel buddies are married, looks like this will be the modus operandi till I get married. Heh I more or less had to finish packing yesterday as I knew I was going spend the day today at USS with my brother. Started the day with discomfort in my left eye, which turned red by the time i was halfway through the rides at USS and just seems to get worst as the day goes on... The first ride we took was the spaghetti space chaser, hah I wasn't even paying attention to the storyline. The next one was straightaway the Human roller coaster as it started to drizzle and I didn't want to miss it in case the rain got heavier. Haha I wobbled off the ride, but went on straight to transformers after that before going on cyclon! After cyclon, we started to get hungry and went to friars for a halal lunch - burger set meals for us! I felt so full and didn't want to go on another fast ride so we watched the Donkey live show first before we went to the puss in boots ride and then the Jurassic park ride and then the Mummy and ended the day with one last ride on Transformer! I remember the last time I went USS, that was for staff retreat, whereby at the end of the day while my colleagues enjoyed coffee, I told them I need to recalibrate my brain and went to take the transformer ride for one more time as a single rider. Haha thought that'd be my last time at USS. Apparently not! Anyway, my parents chose to send me off at the airport so yep there's our usual pre-departure wefie. Was looking out for the Harry Potter set but apparently it's at transit area, so my parents didn't get to see. It's just 1 small set ans 1 small accompanying shop, I was done looking around in like barely 10 mins. About 15 more mins to trade-off, my eye hurts and I'm sleepy. It's a loooong flight! In flight is the only time I get to watch any movies, let's see what's there!

I think this is the longest flight I'd taken. 11 hours plus from Singapore to Turkey! Why Turkey? Cos at SGD 900+, Turkish Airlines was the cheapest I could get booking so last minute. Besides, the food on board is halal! FYI for those who don't know, Muslim meal is NOT halal meal, it's technically just no pork no lard no alcohol only, whether or not the meat was obtained according to Islamic syariah or not is not sure, and nope I'm not gonna try my luck on cauliflower and broad beans with plain rice again, eww. So choices of meal was some kind of vegetarian noodles (no thanks) and chicken. The choice is obvious if you know me well enough! But, I didn't finish my chicken. It's chicken breast, not my favourite part, I got full halfway. I preferred eating the salmon and the grilled carrots. Yes the carrots were sweet! And the potatoes and bun surely filled me up. Food was served at about 1 am, that means I could catch a movie and guess what, there's Fantastic Beast on the list and obviously that's my first choice! I hadn't watched it, though I really wanted to. Now I figured that the set I took a pic with at Changi airport was a niffler with its treasures! I liked the movie and perhaps I'll go catch part 2 which just came out recently. Anyway, food at 1 am Singapore time also meant that my tummy started giving me problems soon after. Well, I'm not used to eating at such late hour! Okay, at least not since I don't have anymore late suppers at spize or at Taman Sentosa JB with the fityan old peeps. Not since adulting and more people getting married. The flight wasn't very smooth, many turbulence along the way. Taking Turkish Airlines meant I could listen to the Qur'an while I sleep and that's calming amidst the turbulence. Kept waking up, but not bad, got quite a decent sleep. After all we landed at like 10 am Singapore time. Breakfast was good too, but I really didn't want to put more stuff in, so I just ate some fruits, tasted the cheese and finished up the mushrooms with a few bites of the omelette. I refused the bun and anymore water, I was very full. The small bottle of water was sufficient for me to last the whole flight. Oh, the flight entertainment had 2 episodes of the Good Doctor so obviously that's what kept me company throughout breakfast! The cabin itself was rather peaceful, no young children throwing tantrum like I experienced in my last flight. I was seated beside 2 makcik who're following a group tour of about 35 people to Turkey with Travelconnect. The makcik beside me started a conversation at the start, thinking I was part of the tour group. But after finding out I'm not in the group, we disnt chat for the rest of the flight. I was given a window seat, yay my fav! Even though that meant I couldn't go out throughout the flight without waking the people seated beside me, I like being able to look out even if there's nothing to see. And when the flight gets warm at times, I know I can press my cheeks and hands against the cool surface of the window since it's a night flight. The neck pillow that Greendale gave as a surprise end of year gift to all staff was comfy! I loike~ together with the pillow from the flight, I had a pretty good rest that won't leave me cranky and irritable the rest of the day. I didn't know the plane didn't park connected to the airport, so I was caught in the morning wind at 14 degrees as we walked from the plane to a bus that brings us to the airport. Glad I packed the ultra light jacket that the Science department gave me in my carry on bag! First thing I did upon reaching Turkey was to go through the transfer checks and then off I go to find the prayer room. Prayer room is called mescit in Turkish apparently and the English translation below the Turkish word is masjid, not mosque. Though the signs around the transit hall did write prayer room... oh now I know women in Turkish is bayan and men in Turkish is bay (not bae eh, ni bay macam baywatch, eh salah channel). The prayer room is just a simple large carpeted room. The ablution place is across the hallway, but there's racks for you to put your bags and there's tissue to wipe your feet dry before putting your shows back on. The room had a small mimbar in the centre or rather steps on which there's Qur'an so it just serves as a rack. I didn't see any racks with prayer garments in the room, so I just make do with socks and handsocks. Always good to be pray-ready wherever you go! That's a good gauge to know whether your attire is syariah compliant or not... ask yourself, can I pray in whatever I'm wearing? If yes, then you're good to go! The carpet doesn't smell fresh, but the 3 sejadah available were used by 3 women already so again just make do la. I only remembered I have a travel sejadah in my bag AFTER I'd done my subuh prayers (takpelah biar bangun betol2 sedut bau carpet tu haha). Well... its automatic, I don't use sejadah when I see that the prayer hall is carpeted at the mosque mah (kalau terawih, nasib la kalau dapat tempat sebelah orang yang bawak sejadah besar, part ni I'm a parasite haha tapi tak mintak, orang hulur untuk dikongsi, kita terima dengan hati terbuka diiringi du'a buat empunya sejadah hehe. So, why can I type so long? I'm waiting for my flight to Zurich. Touched down earlier than expected, 5.45 am Turkish time or so instead of 6.15 am, and my flight is at 8.55 am. The thing is I couldn't seem to connect to the free wifi at this airport, cos it requires you to key in a passcode sent to your number but I couldn't receive any text, how to get passcode! So yea, till Zurich then can connect. It's good to disconnect at times. 1 more hour to flight, time to read that Dan Brown book I bought eons ago! Look at my white kitty after the long haul! At least the bag is intact! Had a friend lost his luggage during flight, and previously also I had a broken luggage myself, so alhamdulillah its just a little dirty. The directions out of the airport to the train station were pretty straightforward, but trying to figure out which train to take took awhile. It's not like Japan (I think that's the most complicated system is encountered) but there were 4 platforms to choose from and the names of the places are still foreign to me. Will get used to it in due time. Yknow my brother who brought me to USS yesterday? I learned to be street smart from him. He used to take me to many libraries all around Singapore (except West side because that's like Malaysia to us already haha love this joke) and to many playgrounds and movie theatres too. Psst he met his wife at the library or so I heard hehe, and when he started dating her I had less movie dates with him haha. He's 8 years older than me but he has no qualms about bringing me out. Either he has a kiddish look or I have a matured look, people don't recognise that there's such a huge gap between us. Also my mum used to bring me around as well, taking bus and trains and the occasional taxi, so I learn my way around. When did I start having a virtual map in my head of the places I'd been to? That'd have to be during secondary school days. My school was in Bedok South, I stayed in Tampines anywhere are various routes to and fro school between these 2 estates so I started taking different routes whenever I have free time (and reading A Maths textbook on the bus ride because... I don't know why I was reading it!) and that's when I started to plot m broutes on a virtual map in my head to know my way around and find the fastest route, the most convenient one, the one I can finish my homework etc. Anyway, I need to take a tram from Zurich HB to my hotel. 5 stops, not too bad. The hotel itself a short walk away. Gosh, the names here are hard to pronounce! I think I pronounce Japanese/Korean/Chinese street names better. Erm I'm not sure why we need travel pass, both the train and tram that I took didn't have any gantry or a place to tap card etc, you just board and alight as you wish. Maybe they have conductors that do checks... the travel pass is expensive wei, but that's cause I'd be taking train from one city to another, which do cost quite a bit. And my highlights are the mountains of which there's 50% discount with this pass. So its more or less worth it. The hotel is... ok I guess. Agoda said need to pay at the hotel but the guy at reception didn't ask me to pay, and I needed the toilet badly so I didn't ask. I'll pay at the end when I check out! The room is okay I guess, I expected a smaller room. The sink is outside the bathroom unlike the normal hotels we're used to. The bathroom itself is very tiny, but I'm small, that's good enough. Towels are provided, there's 2-in-1 body wash and shampoo which I'm not gonna use, sensitive skin! There's hot water, not the kind you actually have to waitttttt before its hot enough. There's hair dryer too, tissue box and bar soap and a tv. No toothbrush or toothpaste, slipper, fridge, safe inside. But that's ok, I don't need them. I haven't tried asking for an iron yet. The door doesn't seem secure, thankfully my mum bought the doorstoppers! If definitely use it when I'm in the room! The bed is pretty comfy (for someone who was used to not using any pillows last time) so I think I'd be able to have a good rest. Time check now: 7.57 pm Singapore time, 12.57 pm Zurich time. Temperature outside is 2 degrees! Gonna zohor-asar and probably wander around after that! Heading out to catch sunset at uietliberg! It's about 20 mins away by train from Zurich HB station. Just take a tram and stop at bahnhofstrasse Zurich HB stop and take the S10 train at gate 22 till the end! Going up to the top of Zurich you'll see some lamppost with antlers , that means you're going the right way! SubhanaAllah the view from up here is awesome!! 😍 Allah Allah...
Switzerland Day 2 - 23 Nov 2018 Zurich. Highlight: Rappelswil
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10160935393770214&type=3
I guess because of the time difference, I woke up early. I was awaken at about 4.50 am Switzerland time (11.50 am Singapore time) by my phone buzzing. Nope its not my alarm, but a notification from OCBC that velocity for Alkaff has been approved 😩 I couldn't fall asleep back thereafter so decided to just start the day. But in the end I only left my room at about 10 am as I had to charge my portable Wi-Fi, there was only 1 bar left! I didn't take a room with breakfast, so a cookie and a small roll cake it is with Oreo in my pocket for the journey. Today's highlight is to Rappelswil. You can take a tram to Banhofplatz aka Zurich HB or Stadenhofen station to take S7 train to Rappelswil. Make sure to take the train on the right side! Oh, and today there was a conductor that boarded and checked our tickets so yep he checked my passport against the swiss travel pass and said "perfect!" Haha okayyy. The journey is quite long, sufficient to almost finish surah al-kahf. It's Friday today! Once at Rappelswil, search for Rappelswil castle and follow it. It's about 5 mins walk, but I got distracted by the minj market and went up to what seems like a church. I found a secret garden! Haha I can't resist entering secret gardens. There's not many flowers though, guess cause its winter. There's not many people here so feel free to selfie! A tripod stand and a bluetooth clicker is all it takes! I'm not sure if I'm going the right way but who cares! The view here is nice too! The sky is foggy so the buildings in the background doesn't look very clear but this place is just so serene... Oh there's an enclosure here where there's a few deers! If only they are allowed to roam around freely like at Nara. I'm hungry but I don't think there's any halal food stall around here. I don't know. I'll check it out in awhile. In the meantime, let me enjoy a pack of Oreo sitting on a bench facing the horizon... Oh that's 1 of the shoes I bought for this trip. Its Minnie mouse! Haha! I just wanted something comfy with a strap with a rather waterproof sides in case it rains. The sky looked dark when I left this morning, so I headed back to change into these shoes and get an umbrella. But alhamdulillah the weather seems to be using fine! My nose is not so though. I need a new packet of tissue which I forgot to replenish this morning. Hold the fort dear nose! Oh the castle is just behind me! I feel like I entered Hogwarts! There's a museum inside but it's closed haha. Time to eat! The plan was to eat just once cause I just want to go back and have an early night. Jet lag still kicking strong... So I thought let's go and eat some good and filling Malaysian food to last the day until tomorrow's lunch (bear in mind I hadn't eaten much this morning!) So in my search for halal place, I found My Kitchen along the way from Rapperswil to Zurich HB. It's just a few mins walk from the train station, so why not. The thing is I saw that it closes lunchtime at 2 pm and will only open back later at 6 pm. I'm hungry so I just gave it a try and rushed over reaching at about 1.50 pm. I was disappointed to see the closed sign at the door. While I was pacing outside (you know how a wolf paces in front of their prey, nah I wasn't like that) trying to peek in, the lady owner came out to tell me it's closed and can't take eating in guests but I can take away food yay! She showed the menu and I made my order - chicken of course even though the rendang sounds really good, and we had small talk. Haha she's surprised that I'm alone. She thought I'm here for studies or something haha. Then the guy came out (not sure if it's her husband) and asked, "laki mana?" (Where's your husband?" I chuckled and said I'm not married haha. He then joked, "ok ke makan makanan chef bapok?" (Are you ok eating food cooked by a transgender.) I dunno how to reply seh haha, I just said, "asalkan halal tak kisahlah yang masak tu bapok ke tak." (As long as the food is halal, why does it matter what is the sexual orientation of the chef?) haha As I was about to pay, they started to give me extra food, fish rendang and roti canai (prata) and tamarind drink saying berkat hari jumaat, rezeki. I told them I'm alone! They said nevermind, berkat jumaat. Gakkan nak tolak ... so now i have food enough to feed myself for 4 days haha or for 4 people! I've tried the curry chicken, chicken lemongrass coconut and fish rendang, they're all good! A little spicy but I like! I think I like the curry chicken the most, followed by the chicken lemongrass coconut and then the fish rendang. Maybe I'm biased cos I love chicken and because I'm not a fan of coconut. The prata pieces are thick, very filling. Again, I'm not a fan of prata either. Lai lai, anyone in Zurich wanna share my food? Anyway, the shop is closed on Sundays and on public holidays, so take note! Closest train station is Oerlikon. Cross the tram track from platform 1 and just walk straight, My Little Sam by My Kitchen is on the left! Try the food here ok! If anyone happens to be there tonight or tmr night, they say they have Adam laksa special. They'd been in Switzerland for 20 years, and has been running a halal food stall here for 10 years already! Can always look out for their updates on FB My Kitchen Zurich Oerlikon or IG @my.littlesam
Switzerland Day 3 - 24 Nov 2018 Zurich to Lucerne
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10160938520575214&type=3
Next up! Lucerne! "Lucerne is a beautiful town about 50 minutes by train from Zurich. If it's possible you should stay in Lucerne instead of Zurich. From Lucerne you can get to Pilatus, Rigi, Titlis and you can take the boats around lake Lucerne (stunning) to Rigi and Pilatus." I'll be back Zurich, but for now I'll have to leave you for Lucerne! Since i slept early last night to chase the headache away, I had to pack this morning. Only managed to check out at about 10.30 am to catch the train to Lucerne at 11.04 am from Zurich HB. The train ride was 45 mins, only 3 stops away. There was a conductor that checked my pass again this time. The weather seems good, and i saw cows along the way haha. Once I reached Lucerne, I couldn't find the bus i needed to take, but as I look around I saw the waters and the clear clear sky! The view looks stunning! See my live video! Finally I found the busstop that I was looking for, but I didn't realise that platform A and B are attached and I took the correct bus but in the wrong direction haha, so I gotta alight and take the bus from the opposite side. Time check: 12.51 pm Switzerland time, 7.51 pm Singapore time. I've reached my hotel! This is the cheapest room I could find, so it's about 3 stops from the city centre and haha 1 get 1 double bed and a bunk bed. Ill be here for 3 nights, guess I can choose 1 side to try each night lol. The only thing is that... I didn't know the toilet is separate from the shower, ack I don't like that! Oh well... I'd better leave the room to find lunch before the shop closes at the end of lunchtime! Food glorious food... There's a kebab stall at Lucerne main station called Little Istanbul but it's takeaway food and I feel like sitting down to eat so I searched for somewhere else and ended up at a Lebanese restaurant which clearly shows halal outside! Once again there's no English menu and I'm not taking my chances to ask the waiter so i googled the names instead! Ok poulet is chicken. Shawarma is familiar, I always eat that at spize. Kofte I know too, though it's called kafta here and I decide to try it. Tastes good! CHF 19... 2 kofte with fries and pita bread. Wish the bread is hot though. Hmm should I takeaway poulet shawarma? I haven't had my dose of chicken today but I had 2 doses of it yesterday! Overdose seh haha Anyway the waiter was wayyyyy too friendly that it made me uuncomfortable I don't know how to explain but it's like he looked somewhat starstruck seeing me! When he handed me the menu, he apologised that there's no English menu and asked if I have any questions for him. I declined, needing my own time to Google up pics of the food from the menu and choose what I'd like. He came again soon after to ask if I need help, so I automatically pointed to kafta (no I haven't decided between this or chicken shawarma at that time!) he immediately took away the menu before I can take pics of it huhu, but nope I'm not going up to him to ask for it back. Soon, he came to pass me a basket of pita bread and asked where I'm from and if I'm alone or in a group, whether I have friends coming to join me, how many days am I in Lucerne, where I planned to go tomorrow etc. I'm not a good liar. While I lied that I have friends coming, I said they're joining me on Mon. He heard 'tomorrow' so he then asked what time they're reaching tomorrow and I corrected him saying they're only coming the day after tomorrow. I should have stuck to tomorrow la. So then he asked what do I plan to do tomorrow and I couldn't lie, I said probably mt pilatus... he went off then.. Not long after, my food arrived and he pointed to me the chilli haha. "Chilli good?" He asked, and I'm like "yea yea good good" 😂 and he went away. He came again awhile later to ask if the food is good and I said yes. He went away. Soon after he came by again to repeat the same question, to be honest I feel like I'm having indigestion that he kept coming by. I dunno why but I held my breath when he's around, he made me nervous seh, like stop disturbing me la. He didn't go away this time and asked if I'd like tomato ketchup to go along with the food and I said no, thinking he'd go away but he started asking how to I plan to go to mt pilatus, so I said by bus I guess and that's when he offered, "I have a car and I have time tomorrow in the morning, do you want to go together to mt pilatus?" Omg I could feel my cheeks flushing, how do I reject this guy?? I told him its ok, I'll go by bus. He offered again, thinking I didn't understand him (his English was quite broken, I had to say sorry and ask him to repeat a couple of times right from the start when he apologised for not having English menu) so I said no, I'd like to go alone. After that its like he had this pleading look in his eyes and asked, "why don't you want to go together with me?" Can I say like "you're freaking me out brother!" But of course I kept calm and just politely yet firmly said, "no thanks, its just that I like to be alone, thank you for the offer." He asked for my name, then told me his name (kuldur? That's what I heard haha) and then asked for my age and left me alone to finish my food. Like finally! I guess I'm older than him? Cos he stopped coming over to ask me qns anymore. He was quite good looking, Lebanese/Turkish look if you know what I mean but nopes, this is not right. So goodbye bro, if I have a choice of other halal restaurants for the next few days, I won't be going back there! First stop after eating is Schwanenplatz (somehow the name reminds me of Schwann cells haha, well I'm a bio teacher whattt) which is near to the famous Kappelbrucke (a wooden bridge). Surprise surprise when I looked up from a lighting the bus I saw what's I the background! See for yourself! From Kappelbrucke, I walked along the riverside to the other wooden bridge called spreuerbrucke. From spreuerbrucke, I then walked along some shops to find 2 halal places listed on Google. Found them! One seems closed, it's like the owner is Hindu (you see the idol inside) while the other had quite a lot of people (none wearing hijab though). Both write halal on the outside, but not like ha-lam-alif-lam like at the lebanese restaurant. These just wrote H-A-L-A-L like that... let me check the reviews again. So apparently the shops close at 4 on Saturday s and I think they're closed on Sundays, wah don't these people shop on weekends?? The night is still young and I don't know what to do so I decided to walk back to the hotel, thinking there might be nice views but naaah... at least I clocked my 10,000 steps today and enjoyed the cool weather. It's 6 or 9 degrees (2 places showed 2 different temperatures) and it feels just nice considering I have my thick down jacket and am wearing 3 layers of pants including 1 heattech and 1 LJ. My hands were cosy on my kitten mittens too. If there was a view, o think I would sit outside and chill. Buy since there's none, I decided to go back and have an early night to energize for the next 2 day's aadventure. till tmr then! Signing off. Time check: 7.28 pm Switzerland time, 2.28 am Singapore time. *yawn*
Switzerland Day 4 - 25 Nov 2018 Lucerne. Highlight: Mt Pilatus
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10160942703555214&type=3
I slept early yesterday and woke up at about 3 plus and couldn't sleep back, so I decides to go ahead and start the day early. Subuh is at 5.56 am here and breakfast by the hotel starts at 6. I think I was t he 3rd patron to go down and have breakfast. There's croissant, bread, 6 types of cereals, cold meat, orange juice, milk, tea, coffee amongst others but I just had cornflakes and plain water, I can't eat too much early in the morning lest I need the toilet! Straight after that I got ready and left the house by around 8 plus to go to Mt pilatus! It's not that far from the city centre. About 10 mins bus ride, then a 15 mins hike up to the gondola. Since it was early in the morning, there's not many people yet. On my return I saw that there's 2 full buses of Chinese tourists that's queuing to go up, woahhhh, luckily I got there early. The thing is, I just realised that I had wanted to go to Mt Titlis actually only when I was descending down haha, epic ah. But Mt pilatus itself was already stunning. Just that the pics don't do justice to what I really see! Tomorrow insyaAllah, hope the weather is good for for Mt Titlis! Now I'm back at Lucerne city, it's dark, foggy and super duper cold. Thought I'd take the boat ride but under this condition, there's hardly any view to see...
Switzerland Day 5 - 26 Nov 2018 Lucerne. Highlight: Mt Titlis
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10160946043825214&type=3
Bismillah. Woke up at 4.40 am due to notification on phone, toss and turn and couldn't sleep back so once again I decided to st art the day as it is. Went down for breakfast at about 7 am after my morning routine and knew I have to be jiffy in order to catch the train to Engelberg at 8.10 am. If I miss this train, the next one would be at 9.10 am from Lucerne Bahnohf. Alternatively I'd have to take bus 4 to Stans, change to a tram and then catch the train. Finished 2 small bowls of cereal, one coated with sugar and one with nuts , refilled my water bottle, grabbed an apple, requested for an iron (deposit CHF 50 yo) and off I went to get ready . In Singapore it'd take me about 10 mins to get ready, here it can take up to an hour with the moisturiser and layers of clothes (now that I'm on the train it feels really warm even after taking off my down jacket haha) especially since Engelberg is 1 degrees Celsius and Mt Titlis is -9 degrees! Better layer up! I literally ran to catch the train. I reached at about 8.06 am, looked for the cabin for 2nd class and entered a kids friendly cabin with books. There's no kids now, but what if there's kids boarding along the way? I need my peace in the morning so I changes to another cabin. Since it's early in the morning, this is the 2nd train to depart, first is at 7.10 am, the train is pretty empty, hurrah! Ok it's 45 mins to Engelberg and then another 30 mins or so up to Mt Titlis. Let me enjoy the gloomy view for now yea. It rained last night it seems. Hopefully Mt Titlis is like Mt Pilatus dark and gloomy at the base but bright and sunny at the top!
Switzerland Day 6 - 27 Nov 2018 Lucerne to Interlaken
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10160949423305214&type=3
Gutten morgen, missed the Luzern - Interlaken express train, again by 2 mins. Dragging a luggage with you isn't really convenient, but if I were to try and fit everything in a backpack, gosh I'd break my spine I think. So instead of waiting another hour for the next train, I decided to take a local train S5 to Sarnen and make a change. At least I'm not stuck in Lucerne main station which is all dark and gloomy again this morning... estimated time of arrival in Interlaken in 10.29 am. Time now is 8.19 am. Let's chill and finish my ma'thurat which I had to abandon halfway since time was short. I woke up at nearly 4 am leh 🤦body clock stuck to Singapore timing still even after nearly a week in a different time zone!

I caught a cold yesterday from the paragliding experience, so after isya' prayers I ate Panadol and went to sleep, only to wake up 3 hours later at 10+. Forced myself to sleep again and woke up again at 2+. I was awake for about an hour tossing and turning, and sneezing I must add... before I fell asleep again and woke to my alarm at 5.30 am. Remember I now have to share the toilet, so apparently the husband next door woke up at about the same time and beat me to the toilet (I mean figuratively la, not physically ok) and he took like 30 mins, he went out and then went in again and at the next moment he's out, I slipped in the toilet. I had a stomachache actually... when I left the toilet, he went in again to shave (I can hear the shaver). I didn't see the wife, I just hear the hairdryer. There's 3 of them, 1 guy in a separate room. Looks like they're going sightseeing early in the morning too. I didn't read the Qur'an and ma'thurat in my room, since I was in a rush. I read while walking to the main station to take the bus, and continued in the bus to Wilderswil and subsequently the train to Grindelwald. At Grindelwald, it didn't occur to me that I had to buy my train ticket there (25% off with the Swiss Travel Pass) so I happily recorded a live video and marveled at the snow and boarded the train. When I realised on the train that I forgot the ticket, i panicked. Hey I don't break rules often. What if I have to pay a fine? What if the conductor chides me? I was so nervous! I don't like to be chided at. Turns out the conductor was super chill! I could just buy a ticket from him, yay! Peaceful at last. So up to kleide scheinegg then change train up to jungfraujoch (pronounced as yungfrauyatch)!

Purposely started my day a little later today. Didn't feel like going up another mountain, so decided to go give Lake Brienz a visit for some peace and tranquility. Online it states that Iseltwald is a village on the southern part of lake brienz that gives a good view of the lake, so I went there, not realizing that there is only 1 bus to the area and the bus comes only once every hour. So I was stranded in a deserted village for an hour! (Don't worry I'm safely in the bus already) Allahu akbar, turns out Allah sent me there to bring rezeki to a starving cat. Half of my croissant is now happily in its tummy! And it is so friendly, it climbed up to me so yay I got some photos with it.
Switzerland Day 10 to 15 - 1 to 6 Dec 2018 Bern to Zurich, and SG

The days passed by so fast and I've reached Day 10 already! Few more days left before I'm headed home... And today we enter the last month of the year too. 2018 is coming to an end! I don't have any pictures or videos to share this morning as I checked out from my hotel in Interlaken West and needed to make my way to check in at my airbnb in Bern. I don't think I'd see snow-capped mountains anymore... Washed my clothes last night but had to leave them in the dryer as the door is locked at 10 pm and the dryer finished at about 10.25 pm. This morning when I took the clothes out, they're super crumpled and still wet so ended spending my morning ironing them and packing them in my luggage... Lugged the luggage down a flight of stairs and rushed to catch the train, and now I'm tired haha. Since there doesn't seem to be much here in Bern, I'll combine the albums together.
